Haul and Reminiscence of an Addict: Evita Peroni Hair Accessories Part II

This is the second part and the final part of my Evita Peroni Hauling. It is insane and i do admit absolutely crazy as some of my friends commented to me, even my family members are shocked at a loss of words when they saw me laying out my stash on my bed. Whatever it is, i have no regrets about this haul, even though i have blown my makeup budget for the next 2 years just for these beauties (yeah, my BFF said that i have a LV bag worth of hair accessories to last me for life.)

Looking at my stash, i think i should have something for almost every occassion......

Without further ado and with a heavy heart, i present the part II of my crazy crazy Evita Peroni Hair Accessories Haul.....

The Double combs in various materials and colours.

 A closer look.

I can't help it but haul all 3 in different colour, the only one that i missed out is the one in yellowish green which i do not think it would complement my skin tone. Ideal for evening parties.

The Sacha assorted bead floral double combs from the Autumn/ Winter 2011 collection.

The Marie double combs in steel gray and white pearls.

The practical and glamorous Tami double combs, perfect for work and play.

Rowenda fresh water pearl and bead floral double comb and hair stick- i will be gifting them to my sister who would be preparing for her wedding. : )

This might go to my sister too if she likes it, i can imagine the pearls on her hair and marching in in her white gown - lovely!

The multi-colored stones hair stick- yes, i have get it in 2 colors.

Tribal inspired hair stick and double comb- you may not believe just like me when i first spotted them and didn't think much of it, but i was so wrong when i wore them on my hair, gorgeous!

The sharks and the clips- yes, i am a pink girl at heart although i don't look like one. Sharks and clips are very versatile in my opinion.

Ah! The hair clips, who would have thought that they can be so lovely.

Maise Head bands in Black and White- something to add a little Oomph to a simple outfit.

I like this best, a little fairy tale like if you must ask. : )

 Rocker Chic, maybe? or Gothic?

Best worn with a puffy hairdo, totally outstanding!

Why stop at one when you can have the entire collection?

These 2 hair clips stole my heart too, the flowers are handmade individually as such no 2 clips are alike.

The earrings- the accessories that Evita Peroni made are so chic and understated. They deserved to be mentioned. : )
I have been rotating between these 2 pairs of Bellis earrings lately. Can't help it since they going with almost everything and anything i own.

The Tabitha series.
These are reserved for special events, but of course i don't wear the whole set each time, its too OTT. Life deserves something dramatic every now and then, isn't it?

The hair twists.

Yes, gotta have them all.

This particular one speaks to me, it looks like leather but is actually not, very edgy.

This is from my previous haul- very lady like.

My entire collection of beauties.

Yes, yes i do realise i have enough to last me this lifetime. While i am a firm believer of "Quality over Quantity" (which i apply to almost all aspects of my life if i can), i totally embrace "Quality and Quanity" in this case.

Will i stray and cave in to temptations of more beautiful and gorgeous hair pieces..... i can't guarantee but not very much likely especially ever since Evita Peroni pulled out of our tiny shore.

I am still mourning for the loss of Evita Peroni, and treasure i will these beauties.

Haul and Review: Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter

Nothing can transform a woman's face faster than a lip colour, it can brighten up a face instantly or it can create a certauin look with just a flick of the stick.

This is a post which i believe is no longer new and has been reviewed in the beauty blogging world almost a zillion times, yet i simply cannot resist doing one of my own.... so please forgive me for that.

The Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter is described as "a buttery balm with beautiful shiny color that will give you baby soft glowing lips" and according to Revlon Website, "94% of women felt lips were softer, smoother and instantly hydrated."

It contains "Hydrating mango, shea and coconut butter to boost lip moisture by 156%" and the "pampering gel formula provides super charged hydration and glides on lips buttery smooth", it is also "Sheer to medium color with buttery shine"

So, is that all true?

I bought my very first Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Fig Jam 030 during my recent trip to KL, i was fairly intrigued by the product and then some time later, i took advantage of Watson's 24th Anniversary sale and bought other five of them, not at one go but on two separate occassions.

The Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters.

Left to Right: Fig Jam 030, Brown Sugar 020, Peach Parfait 025, Macaroon 096, Cherry Tart 070 and Sugar Plum 085.

In terms of packaging, i like the idea of having a transparent cover whereby you can see the true color of the lip butter without having to remove the cap (which i do so when i cannot recall the exact shade of a lippy), plus the color of the cover matches the color of the lip butter which is actually quite fun and refreshing to see.

What i am not very fond of is that i cannot remove the cover as easily as i would like to as the narrow strip of plastic that one has to grip and then pull off the plastic cover makes it hard for me to grip it properly (perhaps i am a klutz) especially when i am in a hurry to use it in the morning. I tend to fumble abit and on some occassions i dropped it. The plastic cover is actually quite flimsy, so i am quite certain it won't be able to withstand a few more drops from me.

Scent-wise, these lip butters are not heavily scented, just a very subtle vanilla-like scent which i don't particularly love or hate. Apart from that, there is also the presence of a plasticky scent, which is also not strong enough to cause any uproar about it. So far so good for me.

Despite all 6 being lip butter, there is a difference in terms of texture, so i will be doing the analysis of the colors indivdually below.
Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Fig Jam 030.

Color in tube.

Fig Jam 030 has a slightly harder texture compared to some of the Lip Butter that i have purchased, however having said that it does not imply that it is crayon hard, the texture reminded me of my Guerlain Kiss Kiss Baby Lip with SPF 10. In terms of application, it does not slip easily and is more of a tinted lip balm than lip butter or lipstick to me.

It may look like a very dark wine berry shade in the tube itself, and i do ask myself if i can carry off such a color, however the misconception is cleared immediately when i swatched it on my arms and more so when i wore it on my lips. It is a nice berry brown with a sheen that is quite sheer but the color is buildable as one layer on. I would say its suitable for both day and night.

On my lips, it lasts 2 to 3 hours, depending if i am eating anything in between and during the 3rd hour there is only a tinge of color left.

Moisturising ? Not particularly so, but it doesn't dry up the lips as well.
Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Brown Sugar 020.

Color in tube.

Brown Sugar 020's texture is like those of Fig Jam 030, it is more lip balm like rather than buttery smooth as its product description on the Revlon Website. While Fig Jam has a subtle sheen to it (it does not contain as shimmer from what i can see), Brown Sugar has shimmer in it, it is very very subtle and is actually hardly noticeable unless one scrutinised your lips.

It is a nude brown with subtle shimmer that is suitable for day wear, it is also quite sheer and from what i observed layering on does not increase the opacity of the color, so i gather one can't go very wrong with this color.

It lasted 3 to 4 hours like Fig Jam, but unlike Fig Jam, Brown Sugar is abit of a hassle when i tried to remove it as bits of shimmer tends to get stuck on my lips.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait 025.

Color in tube.

The Peach Parfait 025 is the least pigmented of all despite being the softest in terms of texture. I find lip butter gathering on the side of the tube when i was applying it on my lips and even when i am trying to be gentle when i was doing the swatching for this post.

As this is the color that was worn by the model in the advertisement, one would think that Peach Parfait is a bright peachy coral, but that is totally not the case. No doubt it is a warm peachy color, i would say its more like a peachy nude that has the weakest colorpay off among the ones i bought. There is visible golden shimmer in it and you can't really increase opacity for this color by layering on it.

I suspect the model might be wearing some bright lipcolor beneath or maybe some lip gloss over it. Who knows? What i do know is, it looks nothing like what it was shown on the advertisement. I would have swoon over it if the color is true to it.

The visible shimmer does not appeal to me and it is a pain to remove it as they have the tendency to sit stubbornly on my lips and yes, it dries my lips. Not moisturising at all in my humble opinion.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Macaroon 096.

Color in tube.

Now, Macaroon 096 is supposedly a UK exclusive, but we got it here anyway. In the tube, it looks like a very nice red with warm undertone and yes, it is one of my favourite among the lot.

It is softer that Fig Jam and Brown Sugar yet not as soft as Peach Parfait, in short it is just right. It is nicely pigmented and the color is true to the tube. It does possess subtle golden shimmer which adds an extra oomph to the color.

It is a red that i feel is universally flattering for most skin tones and wears for 3 to 4 hours. It can be worn sheer or with medium opacity, ideal for gals out there who are shy to wear red but are yearning to do so. Not dry nor very moisturising, just decent.
Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Cherry Tart 070.

Color in tube.

Cherry Tart 070 has a texture that is similar to that of Macaroon. In the tube, it looks like a dramatic red that i can never carry off even if i want to. Despite knowing that i won't be able to carry off such powerful color, subconsciously i am yearning to wear it, which i guess explains why i bought it without thinking.

When i swatched the color, i was surprised to find that it is actually quite wearable. Cherry Tart swatched a little like Benefit's Benetinit, just that it is sheer and is buildable, it also has a sheen to it. The cherry red has blue undertone and should look amazing on fairer gals. Like some of the lip butter in the range, it has bits of subtle shimmer as well and under the light, it reminded me of OPI's Ali's Big Break from the Burlesque collection. : )

It wears a decent 3 to 4 hours on me, fairly moisturising though. Another favourite of mine in the range.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Sugar Plum 085.

Color in tube.

Last but not least, Sugar Plum 085, like Fig Jam, is the only other lip butter that i have purchased that doesn't contain any shimmer or shiny bits. It glides on smoothly and is decently pigmented as well.

Sugar Plum is a red purple or patriarch in tube, the color of the cover does not really reflect the true color of the lip butter in the tube. On the cover, it looks like some color that is very plummy and that it has a strong purplish tone, which in reality on the contrary is a nice plum that is quite easy to wear. It can be worn sheer and also with decent opacity if one layer it on.

For me, i would go easy with the makeup on the rest of the face if i were wearing Sugar Plum, Macaroon or Cherry Tart.

It wears 2 to 3 hours on me, not particularly moisturising on me.

Swatches Top to Bottom: Sugar Plum 085, Cherry Tart 070, Macaroon 096, Peach Parfait 025, Brown Sugar 020 and Fig Jam 030.

Swatches Left to Right: Fig Jam 030, Brown Sugar 020, Peach Parfait 025, Macaroon 096, Cherry Tart 070 and Sugar Plum 085.
Swatches Left to Right: Fig Jam 030, Brown Sugar 020, Peach Parfait 025, Macaroon 096, Cherry Tart 070 and Sugar Plum 085.

In conclusion, the Revlon Lip Butters are indeed interesting, they performed decently in terms of application, texture, color payoff and wearing time (they are not lipsticks technically, so i am measuring them up against tinted lip balms which should be closed in terms of nature of the product).

Personally i do not find them as moisturising as claimed which is disappointing to me. If you have dry chapped lips, these are not for you, on the other hand, if you want something that is not like a lipstick and yet something that offers more color payoff than a tinted lipbalm, this might be your answer to it.

Do i like them?

I am, but not to the extend to substitute my trustly lip balm or favourite lipsticks for them.

An another thing, why only 8 shades offered when there are 20 shades in total?

I am interested to test the other shades as well, such as Candy Apple, Raspberry Pie and Tutti Frutti......

Also the prices are highly jacked up compared to US pricing (US$7.99 which should work to around S$10.40 vs S$15.80) ?

Thats a 50% markup for the exact same product sold (even KL has it cheaper at approximately S$10 plus). Why?

Priced at S$15.80 for 2.55g or 0.09oz, available at all Watsons Singapore Store.
